Dalmatia is one of the most magical wedding destinations in the world. With over 2,700 hours of sunshine per year, crystal-clear Adriatic waters, and centuries-old architecture, every corner feels like it was made for love stories. After photographing over 100 weddings across the Croatian coast, we've gathered our personal top 10 venues that never fail to take our breath away.
1. Fortress Barone, Šibenik
Perched high above the city of Šibenik, Fortress Barone offers 360-degree views of the Adriatic Sea and the historic old town below. The sunset ceremony spot, overlooking the Channel of St. Anthony, creates a cinematic backdrop that feels almost surreal. Best for couples who want drama and history combined.
2. Hotel & Restaurant & Beach & Garden, Primošten
Our home base and one of our absolute favorites. Primošten's old town sits on a small peninsula connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. Imagine exchanging vows on a stone terrace as the sun dips below the horizon, with vineyards and the open sea stretching in every direction. Intimate, warm, and utterly romantic.
3. Dubrovnik Old Town Walls
The Pearl of the Adriatic needs no introduction. The city walls, palaces, and hidden gardens of Dubrovnik offer a regal atmosphere unlike anywhere else. From ceremonies at Fort Lovrijenac to receptions in private courtyards, every moment feels like something from a fairy tale. Ideal for couples who want grandeur.
4. Diocletian's Palace, Split
Getting married inside a 1,700-year-old Roman palace? Yes, it's possible in Split. The Peristyle square, underground halls, and rooftop terraces offer a truly unique setting. The energy of the city around you — street musicians, local cafes, the bustle of life — adds a vibrant, unforgettable atmosphere.
5. Island of Hvar
Hvar is lavender fields, hidden bays, and world-class restaurants. Couples who choose Hvar get a Mediterranean dream — from yacht arrivals to cliff-edge ceremonies overlooking the Pakleni Islands. It's glamorous without being pretentious, and the light here during golden hour is simply unmatched.
6. Biokovo Skywalk, Makarska Riviera
For the adventurous couple: imagine a first-look session 1,228 meters above sea level on the glass Skywalk at Biokovo Nature Park. Below you, the Makarska Riviera stretches like a postcard. While you can't host a ceremony here, it's the most spectacular location for couple portraits and an unforgettable experience.
7. Trogir Old Town
This UNESCO World Heritage town is a gem of Romanesque and Renaissance architecture. The narrow stone streets, cathedral square, and waterfront promenade create an intimate, almost film-set quality. Trogir is perfect for smaller weddings and couples who love history and authentic charm.
8. Olive Groves of Primošten
The ancient olive groves surrounding Primošten are a UNESCO-nominated landscape. Long rows of silvery trees on red soil, sloping gently toward the turquoise sea — it's a setting that feels timeless and deeply Mediterranean. Perfect for rustic, outdoor ceremonies and golden hour portraits.
9. Zlatni Rat Beach, Brač
The iconic golden horn beach on the island of Brač is one of the most photographed beaches in Croatia. Its shape changes with the currents and wind, making every photo unique. A ceremony on Brač followed by a sunset yacht ride back to Split creates a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.
10. Krka National Park
While you can't host a ceremony at the waterfalls themselves, the area surrounding Krka National Park — including rustic stone mills, riverside restaurants, and ethno villages — offers a nature-lovers paradise. Combine your wedding with a visit to the falls for couple portraits surrounded by cascading water and lush greenery.
Our Advice
Choosing a venue is one of the biggest decisions you'll make for your wedding. Our advice: visit in person if possible, consider the time of year (May, June, and September are our favorites for light and temperature), and always have a backup plan for weather. And remember — the most beautiful venue is the one that feels like you.
If you'd like us to help scout locations or capture your wedding at any of these stunning venues, we'd love to hear from you.
